Hey guys, I'm trying to migrate windows from my hard drive to my new ssd. It shows up in the BIOS but not under disk management. Can somebody run me through the steps to take to be able to migrate windows 10 to my SSD?

Also, I have a lot of games and stuff on my hard drive that i dont necessairly want to transfer to the new drive. Anyone know a way around this?

Thanks,
Zach

You will need to reinstall Windows on the SSD from scratch (you can't easily transfer Windows from one drive to the other). The foolproof way I usually do it is by plugging the SSD into SATA Port 0 on the mobo, unplug all other HDDs, and then install Windows. When that is done, you reconnect your HDDs and copy any files you need from them. You almost always end up having to reinstall any games/apps you might have had on the HDD (due to their registry requirements).

Alright, thank you so much, i'll let you know if i run into any problems

Now that I installed windows onto my new drive, how do I get rid of it off of my old drive without getting rid of the rest?

You need to change the "Ownership" of all the Windows folders as well as Users, Program Files, ProgramData etc to Administrators. That actually involves a considerable amount of effort (but it is technically possible). The easiest way, BY FAR, is to copy the files/folders you want to keep from your HDD to your SSD or memory stick or external HDD or what ever you have, and just format the HDD to clear it completely. Then just copy all your stuff back to it.
