Last night my computer had an update, it closed during the reboot and the windows option doesn't show up anymore in grub. I have dual partition, Ubuntu and windows, and it always made me choose during the boot which one i wanted to load, now the windows option disappeared for some reason, the files in the computer are really important and I dont want to lose them, is there any way to restore windows?and are my files safe? I cant boot into windows . Thanks for your precious time

I'd suggest pulling the drive and placing it into another windows PC, then saving your files to a backup drive before doing anything else.

Then go to "create installation media for windows" on Microsoft website and create a recovery USB. After putting the drive back in the original system, boot your PC to the USB recovery tool. Click "Troubleshoot" > Advanced options > Startup Repair. Then restart your PC and see if it detects it.

If that doesn't work, then try updating Grub in Ubuntu with "sudo update-grub" in terminal and see if that fixes it.

Did you create the recovery USB and do the startup repair?
Not rly i didnt want to do anything that might damage the files before securing them, by the way an update to my post, i found a hard disk from my old computer that has windows 7 installed is it possible to fix it through that hard disk?

I wouldn't recommend using a Windows 7 installation disk as it could potentially delete your data. The startup repair tool for Windows 10 recovery USB only replaces the startup files, not user files. Although I recommend backing up your data before using startup repair.
