I just finished building my first ever PC. I am using the education edition of windows 10 if that makes a difference. I downloaded it to a blank flash drive I had lying around via this link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/vlacademicISO. When I tried to install windows, it said "bootMGR is missing". I set the flash drive to boot first in BIOS but it still doesn't work. I am wondering if it has to do with formatting or something like that. I am not really sure what to do now so any help would be appreciated.

Specs:
i5 4690
MSI z97 PC Mate LGA1150 Motherboard
G.Skill Ares 8GB RAM
NZXT Phantom 410 Case
Sapphire R9 270X 4GB GPU

You can use Rufus to extract it to a flash drive. If the system supports UEFI select it in Rufus. If it doesnt select MBR. Add the ISO wait for it to finish then boot from it. Change the bootdisk to the flash drive

I downloaded the ISO. I guess if I can't boot from an ISO, is there any way I can boot Windows without buying the disk or USB and use the code I have already purchased? (again it is the educational version)

sounds like you copied an iso file to the thumb drive as is. you have to use the iso to create the bootable thumb drive so you can install from it. there are many tools out there, i use powerISO to create mine but others prefer other software.

but you need something to change the iso file into a usable bootable thumbdrive.

When I try to format the USB it says access to this device is denied. Any clue how to fix that?

When I press start on Rufus it just says Error: Access to the device is denied. I honestly don't understand this stuff very well so I apologize if I use the wrong terminology.
