So this is the strangest thing that has happened to my computer for a while. I started it up and it showed me the f12 for bios screen, the loading into windows 10 screen, and then a blue screen that was loading. I could also use my cursor which was a bit strange and I left it there for a few hours. It finally loaded into my lock screen but when I logged on all I saw was a black screen (https://imgur.com/rQZUFS8). By some luck I was able to ctrl alt delete and enter my task manager and then access my files but I couldn't really do anything else besides that. My desktop was black. When I minimized task manager this happened (http://imgur.com/o0NaRGc). I have restarted my pc with no luck and the problem persists. If I must I can do a clean installation of Windows 10 since I still have my cd somewhere. A fix would be much appreciated.

Solution
Windows Explorer (C:\Windows\Explorer.exe) is malfunctioning and producing anomalies in your computers ability to properly read and display core components. Since launching Explorer is part of the startup process, it also explains why you're having latency issues (sluggishness) at startup.

But before doing a clean install of a disk, I'm assuming that since you're on this website that you have another computer? Well then go ahead and go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 and create another install disk to eliminate the possibility of your current install disk being defective. If you need help doing that, please refer to this link...
You're going to have to do a clean install, unfortunately. However, the hardware on your machine should be linked to the activation code you used last time and should auto activate the first time you restart after reinstalling. That is, assuming that your current version is activated.

A simple way to check if it's activated is to press Win+i and settings should open and go to Update and Security and navigate to the activation tab on the left to make sure your activated.

thank you but before I clean install does this give you any clues as to what the current state of my OS is in?

However, this process requires that you have a DVD-R or DVD-RW lying around, preferably a DVD-R.

I used my old windows 10 installation disc that I used while building my pc, booted off of it, and sure enough it worked. I'm typing this on the computer that had the problem and it works perfectly now. Thank you!
