I restarted my computer after completing some windows updates to find it completely unresponsive, slow and programs not opening. Ctrl-Alt-Del leads to a black screen, when i try and open things like spotify, chrome and steam they dont open properly but the tasks are shown in task manager. I cant even click on reset your PC or settings as that just completely freezes the computer and makes it unresponsive. Ive tried restarting and creating a new task for windows explorer and that didnt work. I cant system restore because there is no restore point before i installed the updates (yesterday). Ive uninstalled the windows updates but that didnt do anything, there are some microsoft updates from today aswell but i wasnt sure if that would effect anything so i didnt uninstall them. I really need to use my computer and im willing to reinstall windows but i cant even click on reset without it freezing! I'd really appreciate any support, thanks guys!

You can try running Startup Repair, which will repair any critical drivers and the boot manager. It's a bit of a long shot in this case, but it's preferable to a reformatting/reinstallation as you won't lose any data.

If that doesn't work then a reformatting is the next step.

I'm going to recommend that after your machine is up and running again that you start backing up your data. You mentioned that you use System Restore but it's not so much of a recovery tool, if you want something similar but more of a recovery tool, Snapshot programs like Comodo Time Machine and RollBack Rx work well.

The only practical way for us to figure this out is to look at a kernel memory dump to see what is wrong.
You would have to change your memory dump type to kernel. Then Google how to force a memory dump via keyboard, make the registry settings and force a memory dump when the system hangs. Then put the memory dump on a server and post a link.
