Hello Everyone,

I am running Windows 10 (21H1) and my windows is running fine and is up to date.

However .net core 3.1.17 and .net 5.0.8 & 5.0.10 updates are not getting installed. It downloads them and after installing it shows download error and finally shows message "There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80070643)".

I have run SFC /scannow and windows update trouble shooter and also deleted files in download folder in windows software distribution but still issue is not resolved.

Please let me know what to do to solve them. Image here: https://ibb.co/b1Fn89M

Jack

there are a few more suggestions here - https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...0/a8053523-9e09-4091-b52e-b752a17ed4fd?auth=1 (including the ones you have tried)

you could try a repair install, it only fixes windows, everything else stays as is.
https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/16397-repair-install-windows-10-place-upgrade.html
it essentially reinstalls the last version update, you will need to get the CU and .net that fails to work now, again.

I think there is a problem with these specific set of updates. Never had a issue earlier. I deleted all content in software distribution folder also and tried again but failed.

Should I just upgrade to Windows 11 ?

Well, since its being offered, it might fix it...

.net update is there too

but its only 1 patch, not 3 like win 10

new install of the image might be all you need. updating to 11 will do that.

I was having this issue and I realised because I use Visual Studio it updates the .NET SDK every so often and those have newer versions of what Windows Update is trying to give me so check your control panel Programs and Features for .NET SDK and research what .NET Runtimes they have packaged in them

e.g. I have SDK 5.0.402 which has .NET Runtime 5.0.11 bundled in it which is newer than what Update is attempting to Download

This is why I prefer to have visual studio installed in a virtual machine. It makes updating the host a pain in the butt sometimes if it’s inside the host

I'm a .net developer and having just released a .net asp.net core project I have found this happening and all my source broken. I am scrambling a bit as I cannot even work with my core apps. Anyone find a solution for this yet? I get the same thing. I have reinstalled VS and am also getting the same thing. Image here: imgur link

Hey I agree with others above. I had other problems and now have my .net core app/env working again. And though I have 2 newer versions of core installed as part of VS, these updates still popup as bad.

The reason that it will not install is that you have a newer release 5.0.11 already installed. The update unfortunately keeps trying because it thinks version 5.0.8 is newer than 5.0.11. The error indicates that the download is corrupt, but further investigation will show that it can't install because of the newer release. Uninstalling the newer versions doesn't work either (I tried)

In order to hide the update, download the Microsoft's Show Hide utility (wushowhide.diagcab) from the Microsoft Download Centre. (or wait for Microsoft to fix cause this isn't the first time this has happened)
