I have updated the Bios on my motherboard now I can't get past the windows logo screen. It just crashes the three little white dots aren't even turning. I have tried updating it again through Bios rather than app centre still doesn't work. Tried using the windows recovery disc and I can't even get to install screen. I'm using the gigabyte ab350m gaming motherboard with ryzen 7 1700

According to this specifications page, the RAM should operate at 2,400MHZ if not overclocked:

It also states that RAM with higher frequencies will be dependent on the CPU supporting the frequency. I don't see anything on the RYZEN 1700 site about this. Do you have the RAM in the same colored slots? Have you tried the other 2 slots? In your BIOS, are you set to use dual-channel mode?

Edit: Maybe I read it wrong. Looks like 2,667 is the highest non-overclocked frequency.

According to this review, the 1700 can support up to 3,200MHZ, but they had to manually set the timings in the BIOS and they overclocked the 1700 to 4.0GHZ:

I don't think that the RAM frequency is causing your problem. I also don't think the beta BIOS you flashed bricked your motherboard, but it probably messed up the settings. Hopefully Seanie or someone else will jump back in because they appear to know a lot more about these things than I do.

setting the BIOS to defaults or optimized defaults should have cleared this up if it was a problem with BIOS settings. unless the OP had to setup specific settings in the BIOS to originally get the computer to run correctly

I just noticed that your motherboard has dual bios. Check in your manual how to flash the main bios from the backup one. (I have that also on my Gigabyte board, but have never looked into it because I have only done one bios update when I first got it, and it was successful).

Soul mate. I have the exact same issues with the same motherboard. It does boot with only 1 memory module. Tried corsair memory and GEIL memory. No succes in both situations.

Edit: It does work with 2 memory modules in single channel. Dual channel is just faulty.

I sent the memory back and got some G-skill and all seems to be fine. But my problem was identical only worked with one module. I think it's just where the boards are having teething issues
