[SOLVED] Windows 10 won't start

When I get to the Windows 10 login screen my mouse and keyboard stop working, so I am unable to login. They work fine in the bios and during boot up. When I try booting into safe mode it just loads forever and never even gets to the Windows screen. I tried using system restore, I only have 2 restore points and both of them said that it failed and was unable to restore to them.

Update your post to include full system hardware specs and Windows 10 version information.

PSU: make model, wattage, age, condition?

In BIOS configure POST to be as verbose as possible. In other words that will take longer to boot but should provide some additional display of what is going on during the boot process.

Power down, unplug, open the case.

Clean out dust and debris.

Doublecheck by sight and feel that all connectors, cables, cards, RAM, and jumpers are fully and firmly in place.

I think either a lot of software that you have installed, needs to be uninstalled. If it takes ages to load up, I can only imagine you haven't done a "sfc /scannow" in the command line interface

I have windows on another hard Drive and if I boot to that drive it works fine. I tried running the sfc /scannow and all it says is "windows resource protection did not find any integrity violations"

I was able to login to the main drive by booting without any mouse/kb plugged in and then plugging them both into the front ports on the case at the login screen. I I unplug them after that they won't work anymore, and it only works with the front usbs. Still can't use safe mode or restore points, and it is also unable to download windows updates, everything says that it can't access the drive and that it might be corrupted, but it's able to run fine and all the cmd line tests I've tried have said it's fine.. no idea what the problem is. Might try reinstalling Windows.

the mouse/keyboard drivers being erased thing is a pain.

I would copy anything off C onto USB or hdd and try a clean install, since you thought of it already

On another PC, download the Windows 10 media creation tool and use it to make a win 10 installer on USB

you could try a reset but they have been known to fail.
