Windows 10 worse than Windows 7 (for gaming)

1) Reason to upgrade: Windows 7 Consumers are NO LONGER SUPPORTED by Microsoft. That ended at the beginning of the year, so if you try to ask Microsoft for help with your Windows 7 PC they will politely tell you they only support current OSes like Windows 8 (and now Windows 10).
2) FREE for one year. If you wait too long you will miss it and have to pay $179 for your copy (upgrade or full edition).
3) It just works. No one said Windows 10 would 'drastically change gaming performance'. Windows is not the issue for gaming performance, hardware is. When you point to gaming performance always think of the roads you drive on. If you have a two lane road you will get only so much 'max' speed as compared to a 6 Lane Highway, optimized for mass movement of traffic. But that still comes to a 'screeching halt' when overtaxed with 'too many cars' on the road (i.e. multitasking too many programs open etc.) So any solution is and will always be HARDWARE.
4) NEVER use Youtube as your 'guage', it lies very easily. And before you say "I can see it on the screen" I can point to you to a series of videos you can' "see it on the screen" giving you ALL FREE CABLE CHANNELS just by 'typing the code', using simple household appliances to get "Free Internet" etc. They are made purposefully to prove that just because some "L33tGr8PLR" puts up some video doesnt' make it true, especially as you have no idea who that person really is as compared to say Tom's Hardware, which lists its real business address where you can go down and either have your lawyer sue them for fraud claims or simply walk up and actually punch someone for screwing up your sh*t.

"1) Reason to upgrade: Windows 7 Consumers are NO LONGER SUPPORTED by Microsoft. " WRONG ! Mainstream support, in other words AUTOMATIC FIXES were stopped in January. However, Win 7 will continue to be supported, and used by millions.
According to MS themselves "End of support refers to the date when Microsoft no longer provides AUTOMATIC FIXES, updates, or online technical assistance. This is the time to make sure you have the latest available update or service pack installed. Without Microsoft support, you will no longer receive security updates that can help protect your PC from harmful viruses, spyware, and other malicious software that can steal your personal information. For more information go to Microsoft Support Lifecycle."
I don't know about you but I certainly don't rely on MS to find viruses, spyware or malware on my computer.
So the OS is perfectly workable for a number of years. Hell, ask the billion computers still running Windows XP !

You seem to misread what I said, I didn't say " MS to find viruses, spyware or malware on my computer" I quoted Microsoft's OWN statement " Without Microsoft support, you will no longer receive security updates that can help protect your PC from harmful viruses, spyware, and other malicious software".

That is to say, the port XXY that was accidentally left open on obsolete software now has been found to be used as a tunnel to circumvent your system, or that without a 'checksum' against XXXXYYY.sys applied, it is possible to spoof the file via a website blind download and circumvent your system, etc. etc. etc. All these are NOT protected by antivirus or antimalware systems. just as much as your security alarm system will NOT stop someone picking up your 'keys' you left laying int he driveway or that you never changed the 'security code' on the garage so any generic car door opener opens it, etc.

These are programming fixes, never mind that XP does NOT work with many current programs. The main reason thousands of CitiCorp Computers using LEGACY - 1960s/70s/80s mainframe applications can't be 'upgraded' to even Windows 7, just like the ANCIENT system used for Government Security Applications which was breached because it was so old it couldn't meet modern security system standards and no one had a 'fix' so they ignored the problem. Yes DOS can be loaded on a legacy hardware, 20 year old hardware, but you can't use any system that has a USB port much less SATA connected storage (like your HARD DRIVE) etc. because it isn't supported. Same for XP, it doesn't support (for example) the new 4K HDDs which only run on UEFI, which XP can NOT be loaded onto.

So your statement holds absolutely no FACTUAL credence.

you are incorrect on your first "assumption". if you have Win 7 "Professional" you are still supported. the home version is the one with support problems.

Totally WRONG.

Windows 7 * Service Pack 1 End of mainstream support January 13, 2015
End of extended support January 14, 2020

MAINSTREAM is CONSUMER (aka OP went to Walmart and bought the $299 Windows based PC).
Extended is "Only available with Extended Hotfix Support through Premier Support".
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/gp/lifepolicy?wa=wsignin1.0

Premier Support is a BUSINESS (SMB, Corp, Developers, etc.) contract agreement for service OUTSIDE of the Consumer limitations. In order to 'buy into' extended service you need to be a BUSINESS, to 'sign up' for Extended Business

Again your wrong. I personaly am running Widows 7 Professional on 2 different machines at "home" and as of 3 minutes ago I got "automatic" updates for Win 7 from Microsoft! if support has ended like you say the why am I receiving automatic updates?

Ahh look another YouTube video explaining why they think their opinion is right.

Kind of tired of these guys.

That said, no one was expecting a massive gaming performance increase in 10. But a lot of people are saying some games are running better in 10 than in 8.1/7 for them (Batman AK is one which I can say does run better in 10 than 8.1).

Overall it is in everyone's best interest to move on from 7 as it wont have much left once Microsoft stops supporting it. I mean don't get me wrong, I loved 7 but I feel that it was a good OS for its time. That time has passed though and now it is better to move to 8.1 or preferably 10.

Getting "automatic" updates they publish for ALL editions of Windows 7 (as they are still as noted liable for Business) is NOT what I said.
This is the same thing people with XP were 'saying' and were not UNDERSTANDING. If Microsoft gets a call from XYZ business that driver ABC pushed by 'automatic updates' messes up something, they investigate, come up with a solution then release a new 'update' to push to everyone for XYZ business because they have the Premier Support. They did NOT do it because Jen Doe from Idaho complained everytime she uses XYZ Business software it breaks the computer BECAUSE Microsoft keeps 'automatically' updating a bad driver.
So your a 'side effect' NOT the focus of the 'solution' Microsoft automatically pushes.

PLEASE go ahead and call the MS Help number right now and tell them you have your Windows 7 Professional on 2 different machines at "home" and ask them to walk you through how to setup File Sharing (this is call SUPPORT) as it isn't working. They will NOT provide the support (as I noted) because these are CONSUMER editions, and you do NOT have a Premier Support contract to get 'extended' support.

PLEASE go ahead and call the MS Help number right now and tell them you have your Windows 7 Professional on 2 different machines at "home" and can't get your generic mouse which uses the Microsoft Driver to work (this is call SUPPORT). They will NOT provide the support (as I noted) because these are CONSUMER editions, and you do NOT have a Premier Support contract to get 'extended' support.

PLEASE go ahead and call the MS Help number right now and tell them you have your Windows 7 Professional on 2 different machines at "home" and ask them to why they won't provide a patch to make your QuickBooks 2008 which always worked on XP doesn't work on Windows 7 Professional (this is call SUPPORT). They will NOT provide the support (as I noted) because these are CONSUMER editions, and you do NOT have a Premier Support contract to get 'extended' support.

THAT is how I AM NOT WRONG, because both Microsoft (as quoted RIGHT off their WEBSITE) tells you they don't do it, AND you can call yourself and find out for yourself THEY DO NOT SUPPORT YOU / ME / OP / any consumer.
