I cannot figure out why my headphones will not connect to my pc. The pc will not recognize them and they will not recognize it. Both devices work respectively with other bluetooth devices, but for some reason will not work together. I have tried using a USB bluetooth dongle, but when I plug it into my pc it shows up as "bluetooth radio" on my pc device list and will not pick up on my headphones device list at all. I have tried updating every driver that I can fathom, I have tried clearing device lists, I'm at a loss at this point. For some reason these two just do not play well together. Also, with the bluetooth dongle, it worked on my old pc that had Windows 10, but will not work on my new one. Not sure if that's relevant. I shouldn't need the dongle in the first place though. My MOBO has bluetooth built into it and works with other devices, but for some accursed reason refuses to recognize my headphones. Does anyone have any suggestions?

There is no antenna.
There is one included with the motherboard, its meant to be attached on back of motherboard

Yes, it says its for WIFI but BT uses the same antenna. The chip on the motherboard that does wifi also runs Bluetooth, uses same broadcast method
The motherboard manual doesn't even mention that you attach it on the connectors on back of board. Page 2-30 shows where - https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1700/ROG_MAXIMUS_Z790_HERO/E21512_ROG_MAXIMUS_Z790_HERO_UM_V3_WEB.pdf?model=ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO

See if attaching it extends its range, ability to see headphones.

what motherboard do you have?

where is the antenna set up?

those Bose ANC headset have issues

seems there are problems with it and windows 10 as well - link

Bose seem to have driver problems with windows 11 - link

I could get mine to connect but the device that appeared under the bluetooth add a device pane did not have the headphones icon so it wasn't added as an audio device. After some digging, here is what worked.

1. Unplug and disconnect headset from all devices - forget its bluetooth setting in all devices

2. Hold the power button on headset for 2 seconds and while holding the power button, plug the headset into a usb-c power cable

3. The headset will reset and the white power light on bottom will flash about 3 times. After 2 more seconds release the power button.

4. Disconnect the power from the headsets and connect to laptop via bluetooth again. If multiple entries appear in bluetooth devices, be sure to select the one that has the headset (audio) icon next to it.

There is no antenna.

Just for a little more information, I was messing with it earlier right after I posted this, and when I enabled "advanced" on Bluetooth discovery, the headset randomly appeared for about 5 minutes (after a pc restart), I was ECSTATIC, then tried to connect to them. It tried for about 30 sec then said "No response from device" on my pc. Then they disappeared and I cannot get them to even show up again as a connection option.....

Ah, I apologize. Yes, it did come with those, but I thought they were specifically for WIFI, and I have a wired connection so I didn't attach them. I will absolutely try them and see if that helps. I appreciate the suggestion! That never even crossed my mind.

I'll try that and get back.

IT WORKED!!! OMG THANK YOU!!! I never would have dreamed that would work. I'll be 100% honest, I doubted that it would. BUT IT DID. THANK YOU!!!
