I am looking for free or inexpensive software that will enable me to some type of “automatic” (configured to do incremental or new backups of selected files and folders) in windows 11 to my laptop sd card?

Solution
the only reliable free backup software i've ever encountered is those built-in to an OS.
any other decent type with different options for your types of backups you will be paying for.

Acronis True Image has been my go-to for quite a few years and works great for many types of situations with many different backup options.

Bvckup2 has a trial period so you could consider that "free" for a short time.
Macrium Reflect has a free version but it is limited in what options it offers.

For just file and folders:
SyncBackFree or FreeFile Sync.

For full drive images, Macrium Reflect. The free version works very well. I have the paid version on my main system, Free on all the others.
