Question Windows 11 Drag & Drop Option is Broken!

Hello!

Today, I’ve installed Windows 11, the official version.

To my surprise, the drag & drop option that allow users to drag & drop icons into the taskbar, or files into apps that are pinned into taskbar, isn’t working!!!
This very issue is there since the first, leaked, version of the OS!

There is a registry hack to solve this issue.
But I’m like: “Why Microsoft?”
Why not releasing a perfectly functional OS?

What do you people think about this?

Yes, I found a way to pin them to, but the drag, rearrange and such could use a bit of polish. I expect much of this will work out within a few update cycles. Probably intro a few other bugs along the way. ;)

So far I am rather liking it outside a work and daily driver enviro. Use with a machine that I only play on such that these things are a minor annoyance for the time being...

Yeah, it took a few years for Windows 10 too to become as good as it is today.
Hopefully, by 2025 we’ll end up with a polished and 100% functional OS 😏

Yes, I haven't even notice before you told so...this is a big mistake from MS, not because it's hard to have another ways to do it, but because it's nomething that everybody uses.

The registry hack that used to solve the drag & drop into taskbar issue is no longer working!

I followed the steps explained by a YouTuber, I created the 32-bit DWORD “DisabledDocking”, changed Value data to 1.

After restart, the taskbar and Start menu became unusable!
(I went back and restored the Value data to 0).
I’m back from where I’ve started: the drag & drop into taskbar option isn’t working!

PS:
If there’s any user out there that knows how to solve this bug, please let me know.

I think its by design, its always been like that in the beta, one way to get it to pin is to right click icon while its running and click pin to taskbar.

Yeah, that’s true, but if you want to drag & drop a video file into VLC (if pinned into taskbar), you won’t be able to!

I wonder who at Microsoft thought that taking away from us that option is a good idea 🤔
