Microsoft reportedly broke Windows 11 by injecting ads

A new Windows 11 Insider Preview was recently released, and there were Start Menu and taskbar crashing issues caused by Microsoft ads.

I wonder where the ads are supposed to appear on start menu, they won't just show in apps listing as its not on front page, people wouldn't see them there.

maybe they appear as icons on the front tab.

I really haven't missed them. Expect its the same sort of thing as 10 had.

As is the case with most bugs, I haven't seen this one and had to read article to even see if it was Beta build, and it is...

I hope we're not returning to the days when companies would give you a PC for free, but force you to use their custom version of Windows or web browser that spammed you with ads, that the company got paid for. The PC wasn't really free, because you had to endure the ads as a condition of of the agreement.

I never saw a single ad in Windows 10, so I didn't even know they were doing that.

I didn't see many myself, I just knew it wasn't a new thing. I did see a few in the start menu as suggestions of downloads but i probably deleted those in 2015 and at some stage connected PC to MSA so it doesn't install them again once it knows you removed it.
