News Windows 11 to be released on October 5th

If there's one thing, just ONE little tidbit of advice that I can give to those of you who jump on the release-day upgrade bandwagon, it's this -

Make a BACKUP!

Make sure ALL your data is backed up. Make sure you have (or can get) the installers for your programs. Make sure you save those config files for games/programs.

I don't think its at the final stage yet... its missing things still, unless insiders isn't on newest and well, we meant to be testing it? So gold? maybe in a few weeks. last few updates haven't added anything BIG and some of the promised features aren't there yet. Nothing I would miss but they promised.

In the olden days they usually didn't announce a specific release date until something has 'gone gold'.
('course that's the old days)

Well, we have a little over a month to go.

"Release date" is a complete joke in the tech industry at this point. Everything is released half-baked with a flood of patches over the lifecycle of whatever program you're using. You literally might as well be running the beta at this point, because not much else is going to change on the official date.

Now it could just be my luck but I been on insiders 1 month using 11 that entire time and I not run into any problems with the OS. So If this is a beta, so is win 10... and since it never got finished, you could say thats true. Ever evolving windows

I can still make it do something it shouldn't
when you go into the multi desktop switcher it shows all your desktops at bottom

but you can sometimes drag the little boxes onto the desktop

but they not really useful there, you can't interact with them, and the only way to get rid of it is open the desktop switcher again

But apart from visual glitches, its pretty solid.

I can't believe it's already gone GOLD!?
Windows 11 still has inconsistency issues between menus, and settings that, apparently, do nothing. I hope at least those have gotten fixed.

And what are you basing this on? The Insiders Preview? The Insiders Preview is not meant to be the complete OS, so anything that is missing or doesn't work as intended, will be corrected in the final release.
