I tried windows 2000 pro.....

And it worked awsome to begin with
Fast, STABLE AS A ROCK and overall a A+

A few weeks later it was acting up
i had a error one time booting up
and BOOM Fatal Error
AND
BOTH PARTITONS on my drive were WIPED 100%
some minor Data was left and they were mp3's which later on were merged songs together
i had Britney spears singing and Chili peppers kick in
The songs were messed

Anyhow after going back to windows 98.. i thought i would try 2000 once more

Worked ok then i went to uninstall cuteftp one day and
BOOM Drive C was WIPED error..

Now.. i had done the Windows update always for that Critical update and i have no reason why it would do that

Now im using windows ME and it sucks well you know what
and i want to go back to 2000 again
but...
Its a bloody Timb bomb read to go off and its not just me

my friend with a p3 950 bought it too and installed it
for about a month or so it was fine
one day BOOM error and Drives wiped

Anyone else have this Phenomenon?
Probably didn't spell that right and im too lazy to go into word to check but i mean
Some of you praise 2k right now but u wait , it i will turn on you!

ooo ooooooooooooo oooooooooooooooo

=)
im serious people
if it has a bad day, kiss your drive goodbye

actually it's an easy fix if you don't want to have it crash like that. Just don't have any Britney Spears mp3's.
Seriously, bummer...

the body appeals to me more then the music

damnit, when I read that he said he had a britney spears mp3 that was going to be what I said, you beat me to it.

I've been running win2k for about 1 and a half year, went through many many beta and have never had that problem. Before that I ran win nt. I have ran win nt alone, with win98 and I have ran win2k alone and with win98, never had any problem with partitions, maybe you did it wrong.

and another thing, post in the right forum dumbass. This is like the 30th time you posted something where it doesn't belong.

the reason it rooted your computer is because youre obviously a retard. seriously, all the dumb crap you post here just shows you up. we have customers that buy hewlett packards that are smarter than you

AMD. It gets you chicks.

The only times I have ever had a problem running Win2k was on a Athlon 600. Sh|t would just lock left and right. Never had a problem with hard drives getting wiped. My friends be running his for almost a year now with out a problem. I have been running mine for about 5 months now with out a problem. I would make sure your not picking up a virus somewhere or something like that. Or you might have a bad drive. I dont think that it is win2k that is wiping your drives.

A wise man once said, "Don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining."

Hmmm you fail to say what kind of drives you are using and what programs was running, just basic lil stuff, would be nice to know the specs of yours system.. I never had a problem on any of the systems Ive installed win2kpro like you have,, In fact Ive had very few problems if at all.. anyways just saying such n such OS wiped my drive with out specs holds little weight.. It might have been you been hit by a virus that you downloaded..

WIN 2K Pro ran great for me until I installed the new iFeel Mouse by Logitech. Now, I get random reboots. No warnings, and nothing seems consistant enough to put my finger on anything. I may be sending an E-Mail, viewing an mpg, task switching, when "PoP", I am back to my boot up screen. I never lose anything, except the time wasted waiting for the reboot to finish. WIN 2k PRO has been updated, and I have all the latest\newest drivers. I am reluctant to switch back to my Logitech Track-Ball (great mouse, but lacks a bit of precision for FPS gaming), but unless anyone has any good ideas as to the source of this (iFeel software??), I may have no choice. Could be just a coincidence with the iFeel mouse, but.....

Oh, another thing, I hear a small pop from my PC before the reboot.

Iam NOT camping, I'm just having another sip of my beer !

My brother has the same iFeel mouse, but the problem is different: He spent a week trying to get it to WORK, and when he finally did, he install directX8.0a, and it stopped working again... very curious.

WIN2000 Pro works fine in an office setting, which is it's target market; we have over 30 PC's that have been rocking along for over a year. Several of our developers here at work say they have had issues however when loading it at home and running games and other items that you wouldn't normally see in a business setting.

Troubles a-brewing and I'm left holding the spoon.

Nova: Sounds to me like you need a more powerful Power Supply.. that would explain the popping sound, and the random resets... esp if it is a USB mouse...

To the original post: Sounds like a virus, but anyway, you should always backup your system files, so you that you can restore your system. No offense, but your post is a bit too vague, and you wouldn't get much help from tech support. Normally you get a message followed by the fatal error, which would tell you what's wrong.
