My PC was reformatted recently and it came back fine.
After reinstalling some programs, I got this "error" again:

When I boot up the Windows 2000 Set up appears showing a
box (which I can't click into) outlining the various
switches that can be used (I don't know where) - one of
them says "/? - generates this message".

How do I get rid of this screen - it slows down the boot
process and I only end up having to close these to windows.

Also, would you know why and how this was started?

THANK YOU.

That sounds to me like an error message from some startup application.
The /? is a fairly standard entry that gives a command syntax help
screen, for example "attrib /?" at a command prompt. Some startup
program is probably telling you it has found a bad parameter at launch.

Try removing apps one at a time from the startup list, to isolate the
problem.
