Since you can download and get either version which is the better choice. my computer is pentium D 940 I know it is on the low end side with a higher end gpu GTX 260. Which would you choose and why?

Solution
I would choose the 64-bit because it's the future of computing and a lot of new software that is coming out later might only be written for 64-bit.

May I ask what made you purchase a GTX 260 to go with your Pentium D????? XD

But seriously if you want to upgrade to win7 I highly recommend you get a faster CPU than that. With a processor that slow I would be surprised to see you with more than 1GB of ram which is the absolute minimum amount you want to be running win7/vista on.

Solution
I have a newer mobo EVGA 780I and am in the process of upgrading my processor but lack the funds, I do have 4 gigs of ram in my setup and currently play most if not all of my games at 1920 x 1200 with maxed settings or just slightly lower than maxed settings, and am happy enough with my rig. (for now) But thanks for the input I did decide to go with the 64 bit and so far so good no weird issues that I haven't been able to handle.
