So 've had windows7 installed on my PC for a while now and I just purchased Windows 8 I'm doing my first upgrade and I'm curious do I have to reinstall all of my drivers when just upgrading not reformatting

Solution
If the Windows 8 you purchased is a full version, then install it in a separate hard drive partition and dual-boot the PC to run both Windows 7 and Windows 8. If it's an upgrade version, then unfortunately, expect several bugs. I once upgraded from 7 to 8 and 8 was not performing as well as it should as a standalone OS.
don't do it. save the copy of windows 8 for a future build :).

If you upgrade you update the drivers afterwards, but you may want to make sure you have a copy on hand of network drivers. I once upgraded a computer which used a usb wireless adapter to connect to the internet. After upgrading the OS the computer didn't have internet access.
