[citation][nom]n3aRd3aTh[/nom]'however others simply despise it, saying that Windows 7 is nothing more than a glorified version of Vista.'It is in fact. I'm pretty sure this could have been distributed via a Windows Vista Service Pack 2. So Microsoft releasing that as an enterely new OS so soon after Vista's release, I mean, this gotta be a punch in the face for all Vista consumers who paid hard money for an half-good OS and hardware upgrades in order to be able to run it decently. I mean, 4gigs minimum to run it as it should with all the 'super duper' Aero effect, when you can get a real 3D accelerated desktop interface on Linux platforms with Beryl with only a basic 3D acceleration option and 512mb of Ram, give me a break. And no, Linux is now not harder to use than any Windows platform as a user only perspective. Only OS deep configuration and customization require some research.[/citation]

What do you mean by 'so soon after Vista's release'? Vista has been out for quite a while, and we're still about 2 years from the release of Windows 7.

And you don't need 4GB of RAM to run any version of Vista. I have Vista Ultimate running in a VPC environment on 1.5GB of RAM.

About 1 year and an half is'nt really what I call a while. But I was'nt aware Win7 were going to be released in about 2 years from now. Then if that's the case, the fact people with Vista would have to buy a new license is'nt so bad. Oh and yeah, you CAN run Vista even with 768mb of RAM still decently if you turn off every visual features and desactivate a bunch of optional services. But then what's the point to have it, besides a few new network features you can get with WinXP updates anyways(IPV6,LLTD, etc.) and an enhanced security, even though WinXP SP3 is pretty solid and don't really have any public exploits. Vista stills remains a bloated OS, and even though you tweak it, it's still slower than XP, it is'nt just a feature matter. There is superior products with alternate OSes in the new OSes market, that is a fact. Microsoft will still prevail cause of it's grap on the PC market, it's third party developpers and it's not so loyal business tactics.
