Yes, you heard me. The Black Screen of Doom.

When I boot normally, after the Windows Logo, I just get a black screen. Ctrl+Alt+Del does not work. Task Manager does not work. Right click does not work. Shortcuts period do not work. Only thing I can do is move the mouse around.

I can boot into Safe Mode fine. And I have tried to use System Restore from before the incident, and none of the restore points seem to work.

I have also done the following...

-Check registry>shell>explorer.exe and user.
-Check display adapter. Intel HD Graphics 3000. Updated driver.
-Used Bootrec.exe... Did nothing.
-Use System Repair, nothing
-Kaspersky Rescue Disk, Scanned windows and main files for virus's - none found

.......

So does anyone else have any other tricks I can try before I just reboot the whole computer and reinstall the OS? I am trying to avoid losing the data and having to reinstall everything.

Solution
If Safe mode works that means a 3rd Party (Non-MS) software is causing the issue.
This can be some program or drivers.
Boot into Safe mode ...
If using Win 8/8.1 --> Then Open Task Manger and disable all programs in Startup Tab. Reboot normally and check
If using Win 7 --> Then open Run command line and type"msconfig" . The in the Startup tab Disable all items. Reboot and check.
If the Reboot fails , then uninstall video drivers, reboot and reinstall drivers if it works.

If you think its a User Profile issue then Create a new User in Safe mode and try Logging in using the new profile.
2 things, make sure you disconnect any other monitors and just have one connected. Second, if #1 doesn't work, uninstall the video card drivers from safe mode and then reboot.

I have seen my system not use what I feel is the primary monitor as the primary and not start up the second monitor.
