Windows 7 blocking when i am playing games

So,i changed from windows 8.1 pro 64 bit to windows 7 ultimate 64 bit,and my laptop is blocking when i play games,like i can't do anything,and i can hear the sound distortionised(hope i spelled this right) until it unblocks himself,if i press caps lock,it doesn't respond,and you can only shut it down or wait until it unblocks himself,on windows 8.1 it never happened,this problem started a few years without reinstalling windows 7,but now it has the cpu paste changed,and cleaned the dust,help

old hardware? check cpu/gpu temps? defrag HDD?
What is your system spec?

Buy Windows, itll work better. A "secure site" sure doesnt sound like Microsoft to me.

it is a problem that happens only with windows 7,and old hardware,cpu temps are normal,gpu doesn't have,installed windows a few days ago,and specs
intel pentium p6100 2.00 ghz 2 cores
4 gb ram
230 hdd
intel hd graphics
and in windows 8.1 it didn't happen once,but windows 7 has something,but i will try defragmenting and virus scanning the whole system
