hi, im having blue screen on my computer when i shut down or restart it. not all the time, but i think 6 times already. my computer is kinda new. so im not really sure if the hardware is to blame. im getting the IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL in Windows 7 32-bit. anybody knows how to fix this?

my computer specs are ECS G41T-M6, Core 2 Duo E7500, GeForce GT240, 4GB DDR3 RAM, 500GB HDD, Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit.
i already memtested my computer for about 3hrs. it didnt get any errors. i also changed my previous video card (HD 5550) to GT240. im still experiencing blue screen unexpectedly.

btw, my computer runs fine and i can use it like everyday. its just that, i dont wanna leave it unrepaired.

Ok its your ram. Go into the bios. take it of 1T
the Command Rate of 1T is too aggressive. Change it to 2T. This should fix it.
thanks! does that mean that my ram is defective? or do i just need to change some

settings? is it also because my motherboard only supports 1066MHz and i have a more

clocked memory? DDR3 1333MHz.

also how do i change the 1T 2T thing?

these are the only listed options i have in my bios:
*DRAM FREQUENCY - Auto
*Configure DRAM Timing by SPD - Enabled
*Memory Remap Feature - Enabled
*HPET - Enabled

hi there. the DRAM FREQUENCY is set to AUTO in default. when i set it to manual, the only options i get is Auto, 800MHz and 1066MHz. there's no command rate settings to change. i tried changing the DRAM FREQ to 800MHz but it didn't boot up. is there any way to change the command rate? my motherboard's bios lack's at tweaking stuff.

While it didn't in your case, AVG can and does cause blue screens... usually after a set of Windows updates comes through. I've seen it more than once, and it can be a pain in the ass. General rule is if you can boot into safe mode and everything seems to run fine, then software / driver is causing your issue. If you get blue screens in safe mode, then your hardware becomes suspect.

yeah thanks also zoron. but i think its gone now. (hopefully). i know that blue screen are traitors like i said. but the problem is that the blue screen i had doesn't appear while in use. it only appeared when Shuting down or Restarting the computer.

i've been testing out my computer like everyday and stress testing it. but the blue screen doesn't appear. so i think that even going to safe mode will not make any differences. if i cant make the error re-appear, then maybe its finally cured by the registry repair i did.

Hi, I'm also having the bsod IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
I downloaded bluescreen review and the file in red is:
ntkrnlpa.exe

I usually experience this when I'm gaming.

Custom build:
Mobo : MSI 870-G45
cpu: AMD phenom II (Quard core 3.4 Ghz)
RAM: two 4GB sticks of G-Skill Ripjaws (DDR3 1600)
Vid Card: GTX 275 by EVGA

It bsods.. a LOT.
Need help!

Win7 32 only recognizes 3.25 GB of my RAM, could this be the main issue?
I just got an error from my last restart saying that my win7 isn't legal, but I KNOW it is..
I just purchased win7 64 bit, think that will help?
last bsod: 3/18/2011

problem solved. i reformatted my computer and installed windows 7 64-bit. i installed the inf/chipset driver then it blue screens again (but don't worry). i reinstalled the inf/chipset driver then the blue screen is gone. hope this helps.

RE: Avast causing Blue Screens (BSs) I have had almost the same problem as you.
In my case the desktop was using W7 professional/64 and I upgraded from 12-24GB RAM and it turned out, to cut a long story short, that it was the free Avast anti virus application that was causing the the BSs. After having eliminated the newly installed RAM as the cause of the BS IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL with BCC code 0x0000....a was definitely Avast. In may case I was able to consistenly produce the BSs when I did the diagnostic test of the HomeGroup network.

I uninstalled Avast and reinstalled it and the computer worked OK for one day and on the next I again had the same problem with the same BSs. I have now uninstalled Avast again and I used the Avast cleanup tool (as the Window install/uninstall functon doesn't completely remove all Avast files and registry entries) to get rid of the application completely. By the way you need to run the cleanup tool in the safe mode.

I have now iinstalled the Microsoflt Security Essentials and I have not had a BS since.

hey i just recently had a similar issue my pc is 1 week old self built specs are amd phenom IIx4, asus 550 ti, kingston 4gb RAM, asus m5a97 mobo, 500gb hdd, windows 7 home, the problem didnt start until i ran Star Wars: TOR for the first time. While display the character selection screen it went all jagged and distorted restarted the PC then i saw my first bsod, i am pretty sure i had the latest video drivers from nvidia 285. something but maybe I didnt. At this moment i restoring the system image and will proceed to re install all drivers. What sucks is that I will have to re download swtor to see if that was truly the issue. Any additional advice or help will be gladly appreciated.

I had the same BSOD error and after trying each of my sticks of ram individually and still having a problem, I finally uninstalled my video card driver and reinstalled..... fixed. my video card is old and it has probably had several drivers installed on top of each other by now. I will need to get a new video card in the near future (I have a 9600gt that I have put through the ringer) but at least for now I can play my highly modded COD4 games that are low on graphic needs but still lots of fun. cheers.
