Windows 7 build no usb functionality

Hello,

Im building a new pc and i have done it before without problems but this time as soon as i get out of bios no usbs work so i cant finish booting from usb and i manged to find a ps2 keyboard so i can navigate but everything else doesnt work. Some how i can boot off of my old hard drive and into my old desktop but still no usb functionality. This has never happened to me before and I returned a motherboard already hoping to fix it but no luck.

What are your hardware specs? CPU, motherboard, GPU card, PSU?

Are you devices connected to USB 3.0 or 2.0 ports? Is USB enabled in the bios? There is usually a setting in the bios to not allow USB devices to initialize until after windows loads, and you may need to change that setting, but I can't tell you without knowing what the motherboard model is. It has to to with the boot, fast boot and ultra fast boot processes, because initializing USB devices makes windows load more slowly, but until you get to the point where you don't need them, those options need to be turned off.

Generally though, if you are in the windows installer, it will load it's own USB device drivers for mouse and keyboard. Where is it that the USB mouse isn't working? In the Windows installer or somewhere else? Can't imagine there'd be any need for keyboard or mouse outside the bios until Windows installer loads into memory.

Might also be directly related to it BEING Windows 7 with newer hardware, and it might not have the necessary drivers to load.

I had figured it out through trial and error and a little research. Ryzen doesnt have support for usb in windows 7 hence my difficulty, I was able to boot from a disk and use a ps2 keyboard and mouse keys to navigate, then ran the motherboard drivers and was able to use usb again.
