Question Windows 7 gets stuck at black screen after windows logo

So the other day I tried using my computer , which was working fine the last time I used it. When I turned it on, it did get past the Windows logo but beyond that, it just got stuck at a black screen and mouse pointer (it still detects the mouse but won't boot for some reason). I haven't changed any settings prior to this, tried safe mode; didn't work, startup repair doesn't help, and nothing seems to be loose inside the PC itself. Anyone have an idea on what might have caused this?

Try disconnecting any USB device including keyboard and mouse and see if you can boot then...
