Windows 7 hangs after logo on SSD, clean install

More specifically, when I boot, immediately after the windows logo, the screen and peripherals turns off for a second, then they come back on with a lit black screen for around a minute before finally completing boot. What should I check?

Notes:

I have run all system updates
Chipset is installed

Solved this issue. I have an external HDD that I unplugged which solved the long boot issue. Unsure of why, but I guess its going to be set as a 'need' basis instead of always in.

check your boot sequence, if USB/external device is listed before the hard drive w/ the OS, this is probably the issue.

Really I see the answer as the external hard drive will be searched to see if it can add to the boot the time a hdd takes to do this can result in lag...
