Thats what im wondering, but i only purchased it yesterday!!

Also i can install windows xp on it with no problems at all? So why not windows 7?

Ive run some software to check this disc and it came back fine with no errors at all!

I just tried a different windows 7 disc and i got the message:

Windows cannot access the installation sources, please verify that the installation sources are avalaible, and restart the installation.

What information resources???

Check the disks for scratches too.
But since you have 4 different disks, it doesn't sound like thats the problem.

Bad hard drive, or maybe bad hard drive cable. Try switching cables from one of the dvd drives to the hard drive....

No, it doesn't matter which port you connect the hard drive to as long as its detected. Thats old school thinking ^.^ Make sure AHCI is still turned on however.

I did a quick google search on simmtronics and it looks like they have just started making hard drives?
If thats the case, I would definately challenge their quality and switch to a more reputable company like Western Digital or Seagate.

Grrrrrr... This is a tough one. My next guess would have been bad installation DVD or CD. But you tried 2 differnt Windows 7 DVDs. Did you try one of the other windows dvds? It could really be a media read error.

You moved the sata port so its not that.

You have the bios set to ACHI

I have 1 more idea. Test the ram. Download the msmemtest from microsoft and burn the iso to cd. Boot the computer from the CD and let it test the ram. It will take like an hour but at this point it cant hurt.

it works with XP but not 7... Xp is only about 5gb when installed Win7 is closer to 15gb installed. So if there is an issue with the drive i guess it is possible it only show up because of the larger usage.

It might be time to contact the manufacturer. It might be a defective unit.

Ok iv got 5 or so new SATA cables still sealed, so ive just placed a new cable on so lets see what happens.

The disc is fine from scratches etc.. they all are.

Ive tried 32 bit and 64 bit, it dont matter lol.

I only bought it yesterday from Maplin, it was normally £70 for 800gb but a one day sale for £35. I wish i had stayed with my original purchase from Amazon for £57 for a Seagate Barracuda now instead.
