Windows 7 Monitor Resolution Problem

My Samsung HD monitor has a native resolution of 1920x1080, but my new Windows 7 computer recognizes it as a Generic and limits the resolution to a max of 1600x1200. How can I remedy this?

I downloaded the driver for my monitor model from Samsung's site and loaded it. Windows 7 still does not offer any resolution above 1600x1200. I am at my wit's end on this issue.

You need to tell me what graphics card you have. I know how to fix this if you give me your graphics card.

Sorry I didn't get alerted of the other post. Do you have Catalyst control center installed?
