i recently installed windows 7.. when i installed VIA drivers for graphics it didn't get installed properly... i had the message "setup was unable to complete the installation (err code-6) ".. so i was asked to upgrade my BIOS... i downloaded it and installed it... when i ran the update, the system just hanged up and nothing happened for hours,.. so i had to restart the system and went to BIOS settings and clicked load optimized settings,,,.. from then onwards my OS is booting until the windows startup screen appears and just hangs..it's not booting to the users login... but it logs in at times... i dont have any restore points too..what to do?

What kind of a disrespectful response is that. You don't know what you are doing. You ask for help. Inqurieries are made to assist you and you respond in this manner. It would serve you right if Viper offered no help to you.

Since you changed your bios I would suggest double checking the HDD mode you were in and the mode you in now.

If you installed Via ide mode and its now achi, or vise versa it wont boot, it has to be the same mode it was in.

During the boot process, hit F8 continuously until you get a the menu which allows you to boot into Safe Mode and such.At the top of that menu, there should be an option called Repair Your Computer. This will take you to 7's integrated diagnostic tools. Run the Startup Repair wizard and see if anything is detected. Reboot your computer.

yes i tried it.. it asked me to unplug any newly added devices and restart.. i tried but the problem still exists

my apologies for it.. it wont happen again...
