there are people out there who are praising MS for this because they would find this useful...
but i'm concerned with lags and limitations of the host computer... wouldn't it be handicapped? honest question here.

[citation][nom]cookoy[/nom]if others connect to the internet through your virtual wi-fi, can the data traffic be saved and looked at later on?[/citation]

This post asks a good question but is at a -1
There are some real trolls and little kids on this site any more. I see posts that are fine getting negative tags, probably the little kids just hits every post to be a brat.

WOW ! angry Linux fanboy try to ask a simple question. still not reasonable. calling others "stupid" does not make you reasonable!

(by the way, for your information, this "microsuxx" (!) that you are talking about has over 93% of the world's OS market and your precious Linux less than 1% ! well, that's another example of you as a reasonable person!)

What makes me laugh about all this is that Unix was the flavor of hackers long before M$ servers became popular! Besides, Unix (linux, BSD-Unixes) is the operating system of the Internet.

People dont like windows for various reasons. Number one their networking code is horrible. Its very chatty constantly pinging every computer on a network, are you there? are you there? Its not bad when you have only a few but in the bad old days of low bandwidth and lots of computers on it, that could easily bog down a network. MS is also not innovative, they stole the windows look from Apple, who stole it from Xerox. They were originally in a relationship with IBM with OS/2 but when Windows 3 took off they told IBM to take a hike. OS/2 Warp was actually a nice OS, way better than Windows 3. They successfully destroyed Netscape by using the main programmers own code against him. Andreesen went to school at Illinois, in the NCSA. While there he helped create Mosaic. When an article came out claiming Netscape was considering making itself an operation system, MS went on the rampage. They licensed Mosaic from Illinois and slapped a new name on it, Internet Exploder. If you look at the original version its Mosaic with a new name, everything else is the same. They then used their deals with every computer builder to bundle a disk with Internet Exploder. Instantly they took over the market from Netscape and everyone else. Then to add to it they've constantly added extra junk to the html standard so that websites have to be specialized for whatever browser you are using. IE also includes ActiveX which is giant security hole. After screwing over Netscape they went after the other new technology to threaten them... Java. Write once run anywhere is a giant threat, if you can write a program that will work on any platform you dont need Windows anymore and can run any OS. So they did their best to pollute it, only stopping when they lost a court battle. MS is not your friend, they will do anything and everything to maintain their monopoly and the bigger they get the more you'll pay. DOS cost $50, 3.1 cost like $50, 95 was less than $100, even XP wasnt expensive. Now its $300 for Pro and $400 for Ultimate. Inflation is one thing, thats just ridiculous. Think about that every time you cheer on MS.

[citation][nom]ano[/nom]calling others "stupid" does not make you reasonable![/citation]
Difficulties reading and comprehending? The adjective "stupid" was referring to questions... If you consider yourself a (permanent) question, it's your problem.
[citation][nom]ano[/nom]by the way, for your information, this "microsuxx" (!) that you are talking about has over 93% of the world's OS market and your precious Linux less than 1% ! well, that's another example of you as a reasonable person!)[/citation]
And what is the relevance? Quantity doesn't reflect in any way quality. Also, statistics (it seems you like them, even if you don't comprehend) point out that more than 91% of the populace has a lower IQ than 120, and less than 1% over 140. Any correlation is purely incidental.
I wouldn't brag being a gamer/drm o$ lu$er.
[citation][nom]ano[/nom]another thing, what do you do with your OS?!![/citation]
Working, mainly.
[citation][nom]ano[/nom]and what is this thing with "M$" or "O$"?[/citation]
It's just a gentle reminder of the primary goal of greedy corporations, which are just after getting the money from clueless lu$ers for overpriced crap.
Don't limit your education to consumer culture ads.

True, corporations (or better yet, their CEO's) can be greedy. Yet if it weren't for greedy corporations you, me and most other people in the world wouldn't have jobs. And if it weren't for Microsoft we wouldn't be here having this discussion, for Windows was a major factor in the widespread use of the personal computer.
If Linux was that good, MS would be out of business by now, Monopoly or no.
You're just a hater Ossie. No offense meant.

You forgot the board and shareholders. The CEO's high pay is just for morality anesthesia, if he ever had one.
Corporations just perfected the way to manufacture cheap (lousy payment, preferably in some asian sweatshop) and sell expensive junk (mono-/duo-/oligopolies), all in the name of highest possible profit. Of course, the dumbing down effect of ads on the con$umer, is not to be neglected.
How could poor mankind survive for millenia without their savior, the mighty corporation?
Don't forget to take your (north american pig) flu/whatever shot... to make the pharmas richer and fatter.

Really? Just a little reminder of m$'s chief architect "vision":
"The Internet? We are not interested in it"
- Bill Gates, 1993
Until the 90's, IBM's PC and windblow$ was a minority in the landscape of computers. Most bright IT specialists were formed in these days, being exposed to a plethora of personal computers, favoring real creativity.
micro$uxx' biggest single "achievement" was to dumb down computing to the level that every lu$er now believes himself to be a computer expert.
The swarm mentality is so flat...
Ever wondered where modern high performance computing, and the internet would be without *nixes, and especially linux?

Oh, don't forget to report the hate crime.

Hello..
Wi-Fi is a brand originally licensed by the Wi-Fi Alliance to describe the underlying technology of wireless local area networks (WLAN) based on the IEEE 802.11 specifications. That's indeed a good post. Thanks for the article.

I've tried Connectify on my Win7 64bit on MacBook. It's not working. The application can't detect my wireless device.

It is wonderful with another laptop. I cannot connect with my motorala (blur) using opera mini. It wants LAN Proxy setting, which is known to me but how to configure? Thanks,
John Zaman

I'm sorry but Connectify doesn't work on my laptop with Windows Vista and my dad's laptop Windows XP. However, I have found another software named Virtual Hotspot, which is exactly what I need. Several clicks, I have my iPod connected to share the free wifi hotspot. And Virtual Hotspot is free. Love it.
