Hey guys i have a greind who bought an hp a while back and was now upgrading to windows 7. Something went wrong in the install. So now when i try to upgrade it tells me it has already been started and to start windows then upgrade but while booting up i can only get as far as a blue screen with a mouse. I have already tried safe mode and no luck either. Any ideas?

If you want to keep the files, then you'll need to get a new hard drive. Install the original os and then upgrade it to Windows 7. Put your original drive in an external case and then copy your files off it. (A cheap cost to save a headache)
Note: Anytime you do an upgrade, make sure that you backup any files that you may want to keep - sometimes things do go wrong.

Other ideas. Pull the drive and put it in a friends machine. Grab a USB linux live and use that to pull your docs off and burn to disk. You should also be able to use a live disk to delete the windows folders. Your data will still be there, but you should then be able to reinstall.

People are making this sound really complicated.
1) Just plug the drive into another computer and copy the files to their hard drive. (Be sure to boot from their hard drive, not yours).
2) Plug your hard drive into your computer, reformat and reinstall windows.
3) Copy the files to a flash stick, DVDs, external hard drive or whatever you want. Or plug your drive back into your friend's computer and boot from their drive. Copy the files back over to your drive.
4) Plug your drive into your computer and turn it on.
