Windows 7 Upgrade problem

Hello!

Tomorrow I am building a new gaming computer (I've ordered all of the parts). However, I have recently ordered a Windows 7 Professional disc from Software4students and I notice that it is an upgrade edition. After calling both microsoft and Software4students - they tell me that I need an OS installed on the computer before I can install it. Problem - I don't have any other keys. I've been using a mac for 5 years whilst my family has used PC - I have a windows vista disc, but the key has already been used so I can't upgrade from that. I have tried searching for a product key - but with no success.

Help?! What can I do so that I can have a working system without paying over £100 to get a new Win7 Full edition?

There's not much you can do unless you own an older version of Windows. If so, you can do a clean install from the upgrade media, even if the older OS isn't actually installed on the system.

What happened to the Vista computer that you had Vista on? you said you already used the Key for Vista. Well you can upgrade that Vista Key to Windows 7... so as long as you are not useing the PC that had Vista on it anymore you can use the Windows 7 key. A retail copy of Windows 7 Upgrade will install off the included DVD. My Windows 7 Pro Upgrade came with both 32bit and 64bit DVD's.

That computer is my sister's and the win7 disc I have is an upgrade edition. Anyway I think I found a solution but thanks for the response anyway!
