Windows 7 won't start with new ram installed to desktop.

Hello

I recently bought some new ram it is the PNY 2 X 4GB Dual Channel PC Memory Kit DDR3 PC3 10666 with 1333 MHZ. So I went and install it to my desktop here are the following specs:

Amd A10 7700K at 4.1 GHZ
GSKILL 4GB Ram DDR3 1333 MHZ PC3 10666
Seagate 500 GB Hard drive
EVGA GeForce GTX 760 SC/ACX Cooling
Windows 7 Home Premium
My motherboard is Asrock FM2A55M-VG3+

I took out the GSKILL Ram and put the PNY Ram to the motherboard, but when I did Windows 7 won't start and it would just freeze at the Windows logo. So I went and put back my old GSKILL 4GB Ram and the PC boots perfectly fine and everything is fine. I don't understand why the PNY Ram won't work. I even tried to re install windows 7 but still freezes at the windows logo. The BIOS seems to recognize the PNY Ram but it is just Windows 7 not starting up.

Okay, so just add one PNY stick to the slot right next to the G-skill, then try booting. If it boots, you should be able to remove the existing G-Skill stick and put the second PNY one in.

Wait you want me to put the GSKILL Ram with the PNY Ram? I never tried that but I did put in just one stick of PNY Ram instead of two but Windows 7 still won't start up.

Download memtest86+
Boot from that and test your ram. It does not need windows.
If it does not work, test one stick at a time to isolate the problem.

Is your ram supported on your motherboard?
Some motherboards are sensitive to the actual construction specs of ram.
Does pny have a ram configurator?

It happened with my friend. Windows seemed to require at least one stick of recognized RAM to boot, dunno if that's always the case though, I'm no expert on the matter.

OK buddy so I put in my old GSKILL Ram and plugged in with my new PNY Ram and Windows 7 started up. Then I took the old GSKILL RFam out and put in the new PNY but Windows 7 won't boot again. So it only works with old GSKILL and PNY and not both PNY. This is so weird but the good part is that now I got 8 GB Ram
