[Windows 7 x64] 8GB Installed - 2.95GB Usable

I just upgrade my Mom's Lenovo G570 from 4GB (2x2GB) to 8GB (2x8GB) of RAM. In the System Properties, it recognizes that 8GB of RAM is installed - but tells me that only 2.95GB is usable. Before you ask, yes - I am running 64-Bit Windows 7. How would I get the system to address all 8GB of RAM?

1. Is the ram kit you installed(I presume you meant 2 x 4gb) compatible?
It should show up as a supported upgrade on the ram vendor's upgrade app.

2. Is there possibly a bios update that might be relevant.

3. What does memtest86+ say you have?
