can anyone tell me what they think is best o/s for gaming computer,windows8.1 pro or windows 7 pro ? any input appreciated

If it has a touch screen - Win 8. Win 8 will also have something like the classic start menu in Feb. I think. I may give it a try on my desktop then

you can install aplications that make it like win7

8.1 all the way. If you want the old start menu back install classic shell. 8.1 runs much smoother than 7 IMO. I installed it and never looked back.

I love 8.1 because it is fast and great because I have a touch screen, if you are going for a non-touch computer, go with 7, because it would be easier to navigate. Also, many gamers have said that the windows button on windows 8/8.1 is annoying because it will bring them out of their games: there is an easy fix to it (there are multiple ways of disabling the windows key), but it should still be considered.
