Windows 8.1 problems with installing drivers for Capture Device (Win 8 thinks it's a monitor)

I bought an Elgato Game Capture HD60 to stream gameplay from my desktop PC to my MSI Laptop so that I can stream it to Twitch from there through OBS. I am sadly having issues with Windows 8 thinking the capture device is a monitor and installs monitor drivers for it. It does not allow me to update/install the correct drivers either and I do not know how to fix it.
Any help is very much appreciated! 😀 😀

1) Try running the driver installer from the manufacturer website, usually it'll work even for glitches like that
2) If 1 doesn't work, open the device manager and find the device. Right click and update drivers, and then select the options stating you will do it manually. select the drivers you downloaded and it should work.

I have tryed both of these...
1) They did not have it (really wierd i know but had to go through 3rd party to even get the exe driver file that i have)
2) I have tryed that and it does not let me to use that file, it just doesent show up for some reson when i look for it there. Probably not a driver in windows book... :/

1) Drivers are NOT exe files. They may come packaged in exe files, but the actual driver files are several inf files and sys/cab files.
2) You need to search your computer for it, there is a clearly labeled option for searching folders for your drivers. click around until you find it.

Go to http://dl.elgato.com/windows/drivers/videocapture/Video_Capture_Driver_Installer.exe and download the driver. Keep track of where it unpacks the files.

Windows includes the Windows key+PrtScn combination as well as the snip tool for taking screenshots, and you can upload the photo to literally any website you want using a web browser

That's :
1) Quite rude
2) Due to incompetence in reading the reply. I said he can upload to a website using a browser, NOT that he can upload to this site.
3) Completely unnecessary (especially due to 2, but also 1)

Here's a list of websites that can be used for posting images:
tinypic.com
imgur.com
postimage.org
pasteboard.co
even flickr.com and www.google.com/photos/ work
Not a single one of those requires anything but a web browser to upload an image and get a valid URL for cross linking.

I would just like to point out that downloading .exe files can present potential safety concerns for users. It's always best to make sure that users have an up to date antivirus regardless. Many sites like imgur.com allow users to take a screen shot via windows using the prtscn button, saving the file in windows paint and uploading from pc to an image hosting service.

Imgur is just one possible solution however they and many like them make photo sharing easy with included links including "bb code" which is what's used on these forums.

Another similar program is lightshot, one that I personally use as well. It allows a few quick customization options before uploading to the site's service which provides a link that can be included in forum posts linking to an image on a separate page rather than an inline image. Sites like imgur or dropbox don't require an .exe to be downloaded or installed which make them safer for the end user.
