I recently built a new computer and I installed my OS to the hard drive as well as after effects and stuff. In disk management I can see the hard drive as well as my ssd but I can't use it. It does not show up in my computer. Heres my specs:
Asus Maximus Vii Mono
I74770k 4790k
Asus Poseidon 780
Corsair 100I
16gb Corsair vengeance pro 2400
Intel 240gb ssd
wd black edition 1tb

I loaded my OS (Windows 8.1) onto a RAID 0 with SSDs and had the same problem. I fixed it by running the Windows Experience Improvement program.
On Windows 8.1 you do this by opening your desktop, right-clicking the windows logo on the taskbar, and CMD then enter. When the command prompt appears you type "WinSAT.exe formal" without the quotation marks and hit enter.
It will open another window, that will close it after WinSAT runs. You can see if this worked by opening the Disk Optimization tool and it should say SSD under the drive type.

If your HDD is a brand new empty HDD, Windows can't use it yet, although Disk Management can show it to you as a valid hardware device. In Disk Management, RIGHT-click on the HDD's large empty space and choose the option to Create a New Simple Volume. I presume you want it to be all of the space available, and to have it use an NTFS file system. Those default settings are good. You MIGHT want to change one setting: it may default to making this HDD unit bootable. I don't think you plan to use it that way - your plan is to use it only for data, and not a boot drive, right? So you can NOT make the HDD bootable. When the settings are as you want, let it run. The process may take many hours, so be patient. When it is finished, back out of Disk Management and reboot. Your HD should show up in My Computer.
