Windows 8.1 to Windows 7 Downgrade

Ok so my girlfriends uncle got a laptop and can't stand Windows 8. He has asked me to put windows 7 on it. He purchased a Windows 7 copy which I have ready on disk. Problem I am having is the laptop has a password on it and I can't get in touch with him. Is there a way to format it and install the Windows 7 copy without logging in?

The Laptop is a HP Pavilion.
