Windows 8 high CPU temperature

I just upgraded to Windows 8 today and I noticed that my idle temps are stunningly high compared to when I was using Windows 7. I already upgraded all the drivers (chipset, video card, sound card, etc.) but still getting the same temps.

My W7 idle temps are at an average of 35-40 C while I get 50+ C on W8 when idle. I played a game of LoL to see if it would shut down due to overheating but it didn't. But when I checked the temps, it was nearing 100C compared to when I was using W7 which is only at 60-70C.

I answered the question. The answer is that your processor isn't running any hotter. The equation used to determine CPU temp is different, so you are seeing the same temps they just appear higher. Whether this is more accurate or not is a good question, but if your not noticing any problems I wouldn't worry.

I haven't. But would it give me an accurate read because nothing is running on the background aside from the BIOS which would definitely give me low temp readings. Or is it the same? I really haven't tried it before. Never bothered to look at it even on my old PCs because of third-party temp monitor software.

ok if you're using fanspeed, you need to go into your bios and disable the automatic controls, sounds like fanspeed and your bios are conflicting, this should solve the issue

sorry, meant to say speedfan lol, and turn off the automatic fan controls in your bios.

You were correct. I have installed Gigabyte's ET6 and that gives me correct CPU temp readings. I also now have an H100i which give me readings of slightly higher temps even though thy run at the same time.
