What it should be called:

Windows 100 ($99.95)
Windows 200 ($199.95)
...
Windows 700 ($699.95)

Anyone wants to join the 700 Club ?

Time and time again Microsoft proves that they are imbeciles, stupid and morons.
We do not need so many ridiculous versions of Windows.
I really believe all the idiots at MS who are responsible for this fiasco should be fired immediately, and replaced with smart, logical and competent brains.
Microsoft ..... you disgust me.

[citation][nom]bradley63336652[/nom]my co-worker's mother makes $63/hr on the laptop. She has been laid off for 10 months but last month her pay check was $16752 just working on the laptop for a few hours. Read more on this site - LazyCash5.com[/citation]

If your mum was making $63 an hour , she wouldnt need to grind that pole. lol 😀

[citation][nom]A Bad Day[/nom]"Look, I'm sorry IT folks, but we can't afford several hundred thousand dollars to upgrade our 16-bit applications to 32-bit or 64-bit. And besides, there's no clear performance boost, so why fix something when it's not broken?"-Your typical management[/citation]

Agreed. But in that case, you wouldn't be upgrading to Windows 8 anyway.
So, doesn't spell a need for a 32-bit version of Windows 8.

Tried out Windows 8 all weekend. While a lot of programs actually ran faster on it versus Windows 7, the overall experience with the Metro UI was just plain horrible. I felt like I had to completely relearn Windows in order to just manipulate the UI. Yes I know that you can disable it through the registry, but that defeats the point of testing out the new OS. So regardless, this OS can have as many SKUs as it wants because I won't be purchasing a using a single one of them.

These high SKU numbers and names are stupid... once again.

Here is all they need (Someone in MS is being stupid).

Windows 8 Basic (we don't need 2 kinds of HOME)
Windows 8 Home
Windows 8 Professional
Windows 8 Business (rather than Professional Plus. is this really needed?)
Windows 8 Ultimate Edition

Windows 8 Starter
Windows 8 ARM Edition
Windows 8 Enterprise Edition
Windows 8 Enterprise Eval Edition

A rather sick thing to keep in mind... Apple only has one version of their desktop OS and it sells for $30 and $50 for a 5-user family pack.

Funny... when Microsoft was #1 company, their OS has always been $100+. Even being #2... still $100+
Not impressive.

So with Metro UI... does the mouse wheel move the interface side to side? Haven't tried it yet.

[citation][nom]Antimatter79[/nom]If they simply can't bring themselves to offer just two or three versions at most, why not just go totally modular with Windows, and sell a vanilla Windows 8 at a minimal price (the gamer version??), and then sell the add on "features" as separate modules, say for $15 or $20 each? That way you pay for what you want, and you don't pay for what you don't need. Would that be feasible?[/citation]

Nope...not feasible from a business perspective if you can "persuade" people into buying something they don't need.

I don't need an extra large drink...just super size fries...I'm persuaded to purchase both items even if I don't need them both...cause I like the "value".

Seems simple to me; sell more, make more money.

I used Dos/Windows since Win3.1 up to Windows 7. I am in IT and since XP there is not only the versions but Activation. Change one piece of hardware and then you need to activate again, and not always the easy way over the internet, but your have to call in. The same with Office. Oh the frustration. Then the first thing you have to do is install antivirus software that takes over your computer.
Then 2 years ago I tried Linux (Ubuntu). Nice being free but a pain to manage and install or configure certain software, I can only imagine what it must be like for someone with no IT background. Used this for a year.

Then I read about someone who got Mac OS to run on his PC (Hackintosh). So I tried it, took a few days to get it sorted, but I was so impressed that I went and bought a 5 user license, Only one version, and it does everything.
Damn! What an experience, this is how it should be. Smooth and fast.
It's a pity that this is not supported on all hardware so that everyone can have a real choice instead of Microsoft shoveling crap down our throats every couple of years.
Since then I bought each of my kids iPod touches, myself an iPhone, my wife and myself iPads 2's, she's ordered an iPhone and an apple TV. And also countless apps. I will soon be getting myself a Macbook Air as well.
I think I have left Microsoft behind for good, I have given them enough chances. Even flashed my son's windows phone and put android on it.
