Hi all,

So, I have motherboard ASUS TUF Z390-PLUS-GAMING Wifi and I've been using windows 10 on it without any issue. I connect to my router using Cat6 25ft LAN cable from the motherboard's ethernet port and there's no issue. however, I installed windows 8 yesterday, and it couldn't even recognize the LAN cable, let alone connect to the internet. what are my options? this motherboard does have wifi, but I dont know how to register wifi in windows 8. can anybody help?

Thanks

Why Windows 8?

Windows 8 doesn't come with drivers for your Intel I219V NIC (or for that matter your Intel Wifi chip) so you would have to install them to get it to work

You could normally install another older NIC temporarily and let WindowsUpdate install all of the correct drivers, but Microsoft discontinued WindowsUpdate support for Windows 8.1 on Jan 10, 2023 so that may no longer work. So you could either install the drivers yourself or permanently install another NIC.

Is this the driver? -> https://www.intel.com/content/www/u...l-network-adapter-driver-for-windows-8-1.html

Windows 8 is lighter and of course, it doesn't force you to install updates
I agree. I am writing this reply on Windows 8.1. Win10 is just OK, but I can't stand Win 11.
Win8.1 is also much more minimalistic and simplistic to use.
Those drivers may work, and trying to install them won't do any harm.
And yes, I do have an i9-9900k and it is very powerful and overkill for me personally.
