Click Properties
Click Compatibility tab.
Check as desired.

Some may not be compatible.
Check with the application manufacturers for compatibility issues.

If they were really true DOS-mode games which exited the Windows GUI (leaving behind a stud of reload code) and loaded the command-line interpreter so the game ran in real DOS and not within Windows, they won't run under NT-based Windows. Those usually required direct access to hardware that NT won't allow. You'll need to use a boot manager or dual-boot to install DOS in a separate partition to use it for your games. There are hazards in doing this after you have installed Windows XP but no point in going into it unless you decide to take that route. This can be more work than some old DOS-mode game is worth. Try the compatibility mode first already mentioned by Jones.

This doesn't work. I tried it with two different games and got absolutely nowhere. Did it work for you? I've tried several different times and am almost at the end of my rope with frustration.
