My windows 95 on a Del Dimension P90 hase stopped loading windows 95. After
running DOS and just before loading 95 I receieve an error message that HIMEM
has encountered a violation loading WINGUARD. Is there any way from the DOS
prompt I can disable the loading of WINGUARD so Windows 95 can start and I
can fix the problem. It is a very old version of WINGUARD and I have lost the
disks.

Any help woiuld be very much appreciated.
Many thanks

Winguard is not part of Windows and it is not a Microsoft product.
Will Windows start in Safe Mode? If so, you can eliminate Winguard.
Safe Mode disables Config.sys, Autoexec.bat, and files that start
automatically when Windows starts.

You can get information about Winguard at this web site:
http://www.winguardpro.com/
I suggest that you talk with them about how to repair it or uninstall
it.

Bill,

Many thanks for this. I will contact Winguard. When I try to start in safe
mode I get a registry corruption, load backup and re-start, but I do not have
a backup. Is there anything I can do. Any suggestions would be very much
appreciated. Many thanks again.
