Windows 98SE install without CD-ROM

Hello.
How do you install Windows 98 on a computer without CD-Rom and USB.
Found a Compaq LTE 5300 cheap on a flea market and i want to do a clean install of windows 98 on it. I have The Boot floppy and Windows 98 CD. But when the computer does not have a CD-Rom i am at a loss as i dont find any instruction on how to do it on the internett.
And i was hopping someone on here knew how to do it and explaine it to me.

Doersn't matter. That old laptop cannot run windows 98 which requires a 486 processor minimum (you have an ancient 8086). 8MB or more ram (you might have 1), and 500MB of harddrive space (that one came with a max of 40MB).

You sir, are stuck with DOS with Windows 3.11 on that laptop.

Well the only solution I could see for you would be the following path.
Install MS DOS with Windows 3.1 then upgrade to windows 95, but it will require all floppy disks as you have no cdrom or usb ports on that laptop.

They can't even run win95; doesn't meet the minimum requirements for that either.

Stuff cheap at a flea market is cheap for a reason.
The seller is just glad that he doesn't have to look at it anymore.

There is as much a chance of getting Win98 to run on that as there is getting Win10 to run on it.
Not gonna happen.

you can install windows 98 on this laptop, and if you do not have a cd, then boot with a win 98 setup disk and format the drive as fat 32/bootable , create a folder called setup98 and then copy the setup files into this partition by copying the files/folders off the cd onto floppies (you will need a lot!!). and then remove the floppy disk, reboot, cd to the setup98 folder and run the win 98 setup if you have access to a older computer with a IDE port, use a adapter to attach the compaq drive and do the format/copy the files using the older system which should have a cdrom
(just don't forget to make the drive bootable with the MSDOS "SYS" c:\ command)

The success of the original LTE series led Compaq to apply the designation to later models. The LTE 386 made extensive use of flexible electronics for the motherboard and motherboard interconnects. Other later Compaq LTE computers had a pointing stick in the middle of the keyboard, however the LTE Elite 486 models had a trackball mounted to the right of the LCD screen. The LTE Elite series had an easily removable hard drive for data security purposes. Starting with the LTE 386, the LTE series computers were able to connect to a (in some cases, powered) docking station to act as a regular desktop computer. Later models are able to remove the floppy drive to add an internal CD-ROM drive, which was an expensive upgrade option for the late LTE series. The last LTE laptops were the 5000 series ending with the 5400, which had a 150 MHz Pentium processor and was quite capable of running Windows 98SE. It also allowed for swappable Floppy Drive/CD-ROM Drive.

Your link shows a Pentium 133 system. That is NO PROBLEM for running WIN98.
I have a similar Pentium laptop running Win2k.

The OP apparently has a much older LTE.

It could be the site I got my specs from was entirely wrong but OP has not been back to confirm or deny it. I do see that they did come in pentium 133 versions thanks to your post.

the LTE 5000 series were all pentium based with the 5400 being the last using a pentium 150 mhz cpu

as i said i'm old enough to have actually worked on these systems when they were new

and i think the original poster and all other people who still have this series laptop will want to have a way to check for themselves if a post is accurate

i don't think it's right to simply say that others posts might be incorrect without being able to backup my claim by providing links to support it, i meant no disrespect to all of the previous posters who stated that the original posters LTE 5000 series could not run windows 98
