I have just upgraded my PC and am in the middle of re-installing all my software. However, there is a small problem with my CD writer. It is not appearing in MY Computer or Windows Explorer. I can see the drive listed in device manager. If i do a quick restart, i ca get the drive icon to appear again. The drive can "burn" normally, and read ok too. Any one got any ideas? My current PC setup is:

AMD thunderbird 1.1ghz
Asus A7V
256mb Ram
geforce 2 ultra 64
sb live
hp 9100 internal series CD rewriter
2 x IBM hard drives

Thanks

Rob

For anyone who maybe interested, the problem was resolved by disabling DMA transfers on the CD Writer's Device Manager's properties. Shame it will castrates its fast read performance.......oh well 😱)

A couple of things you can do:
1)Make sure PnP is set on in the Bios.
2)Also, there are issues with the VIA IDE drivers, uninstall it and use Window's default drivers.
