A point of endless frustration and rage for many users is the lack of emphasis in Windows for reliable/proper function when running multiple audio/midi devices. You can't fall back on 'just run one device' because it is literally impossible to do that for some purposes, AND device manufactures THEMSELVES recommend running additional devices simultaneously to get additional function. YET, NEITHER the music equipment industry, NOR Window's actually has developed adequate provision for multiples being solid, reliable, handling interrupts well. It REGULARLY causes problems. Practically the ONLY means of running multiples devices is ASIO4ALL, which IS NOT even really an aggressively developed thing, and its does NOT really address the FUNDAMENTAL issues that cause these problems to begin with (it's more is a good way to reproduce them). This is not a matter of a user's lack of 'optimiztion' for audio/midi. THIS is an ongoing, real source of RAGE. sorry for the rant, but it's deserved. Many would be very grateful if someone has actually answers to this issue, but of course I highly doubt there are any. Thanks.

Solution
There's a very simple solution to this. Get a digital mixing board designed for use with a DAW.

Industry professionals have used those for quite some time now, and have been quite happy with that kind of setup.
