Windows boots to black screen with endless loading circle

I was using my pc when the screen flashed black and the audio stuttered in and out. I turned the pc off after this and when I tried to turn it back on it will only boot to a black screen with the loading circle. I have seen others suggest to hit space and log in then change some things but when I do that it will just go to a blank gray screen or sometime to my background but with nothing on it. When I click it just freezes the circle which is still going on another monitor. It still shows the normal boot sequence all the way up until it should show me the log in screen. I've tried recovering the os but it just says I can't. Any help would be much appreciated!!
