My Sony vaio was rendered useless about 10 months ago from an involuntary windows 10 installation. I have been trying to go back to windows 8 and also ubuntu with no luck; every time I seem to be experiencing some new issue.

Decided to try again today. I am trying to install windows 8 from a usb-stick.

At the setup screen:

"Can't install because the disk, because its of the type GPT-partition"

Tried to overcome the problem following first response in this thread:

Still no fix

It seems futile, what do I do now?

Any help is greatly appreciated

I suspect you need to delete all the partitions and leave it as unallocated space on the 1st page you showed, and click next. That is what you do if you get the error in windows 10.

What error is not explaining clearly is it wants you to wipe the drive as it is currently formatted as MBR and Win 8 wants to use GPT

Thanks for trying to help. I have tried before; tried again now, and it doesn't work. It's aborted and I'm getting an error message saying "windows can't install the following files, because they don't exist"

Now I'm trying to boot my laptop several times, to try it over again, because most of the time when I enter the setup screen it just says "no stations found" and looks like this:
