Hi I downloaded my Windows 10 to my HDD when I started my new PC. but have found out it´s best to download it to the SSD. I have heard that you can make a clean install of windows but not entirely sure how to do it. I have the windows install on a USB.

Download a program called rufus and start it. If you start it make sure you have the usb in the computer. Make sure your ISO file of windows is on the hdd or ssd so you have a backup.

Than you have alot of options. You have to make sure that the file system is NTFS. Check the last 3 of the 4 options you have. At create a bootable disk using you have to open the dropdown and make sure you have selected the ISO image option. Than the button next to that will open a open file window. Simple go to the ISO where ever you saved it. Not on the USB. And open it. Now press start and wait until it is finished. You know when it is finished it says ready again.

Now keep the USB in the computer and shut it down. Once shutdown you have to start it again and start spamming F2 or DEL depending on which motherboard you have. If you did it right you should boot into the BIOS. Know go to the boot section and put the USB with highest boot priority. Now save the changes and let it startup like normally. If it says 'Press a button to boot from USB' you have to press a button on the keyboard. Not all motherboards do this. Once it has started up you simply select your language. Once you get to the partitions you have to format the drive your windows was on before by clicking the SSD and press format. After that press the SSD again and press next. It should start installing a clean windows installation. Once the installation is done and it is restarting you have to pull out the USB so it will boot from the USB.

You have just installed fresh win 10!

Hi

If you have a hard disk with Windows 10 (or 7 or 8) in the PC it is possible the Windows install program will see the boot files partition on the hard disk and re use that partition instead of putting the boot files on the SSD

So if this hard disk dies or removed Windows will stop loading from the SSD

So make sure the data & power cables to the Hard drive are disconnected while installing Windows on the SSD
Once Windows has fully installed on the SSD you can re connect the hard disk.

Should I turn of the PC before reconnecting the HDD also right now my HDD is on sata_1 on the MOBO I think I need to move the SSD over there and put the HDD at sata_2 because I could only see the HDD as boot priority before. when disconnecting the HDD is it just pulling out the two cables from it the SATA power to mobo and SATA power to PSU

was it fine to just pull out the two wires going to the HDD? or do I just need to pull out the one coming from the PSU
