Hey,
I had this issue a long while ago (like 2 years), and I managed to fix it by re-installing some drivers. This time however, it seems like that won't solve the issue.
I got this problem yesterday and I've been trying to fix it since then, but nothing has worked so far.
So this is pretty much my case:
I have some high end speakers, and a receiver. I use one HDMI cable to connect it to my pc (HDMI - IN), and one to connect the receiver to my Asus VG248QE monitor. (HDMI OUT A).
I've been running this setup smoothly for a couple of years now, with no issues after the one I had 2 years ago. I haven't changed anything at all since it worked, so I have no idea what could be causing this.

What I've tried so far:
- Checking the functionality of my hdmi cables (both working perfectly fine).
- Reinstalling realtek hd audio drivers
- Resetting the receiver to its fabric settings, because it may have changed the output device to something else, but that didn't work either.
- Calibrating my speakers (the speakers plays sound without a problem, but in device manager it says "Not plugged in"
- Tried to change my operating system (dual boot windows 8.1 and 7, it didn't work on any of them.)
- Instead of taking the HDMI OUT A to my monitor I tried putting it in my TV, but still no signal at all.

Any help is greatly appreciated, as this is making me quite frustrated, especially after having it in the past as well.
Thanks in advance!
