Windows doesnt recognize added ram

Today i bought 4gb of ddr2 ram because my motherboard only supports ddr2 memory.
when i first took them out of package,they seemed small comparing to my other ram sticks. it was half normal ram size,so i tried to install them. When i booted windows,everything went good i was happy,but once i opened properties,it still showed 4gb ram. i tried to reinstall them but it still showed 4gb. one thing i found strange is when i open CPU-Z and go to the ''Memory'' section it shows 8gb ddr2 memory and shows that all 4 slots have ram. 1 and 3 slot is my Corsair 2gb ram stick and other 2 and 4 slot has Kingston 2gb ram sticks. What should i do?

Specs:
Mobo: P5Q Deluxe
CPU: Intel core 2 duo e8500 (today i bought Q9550)
Video: Nvidia 9800GT 1gb (Already ordered GTX 1050 ti)
Windows 7 64bit

anyone can help?
Maybe i can try to update bios? but i dont know how to do it. I would really appreciate help.

If your using a 32 bit operating system then all it can use is 4GB.

Mixing RAM, especially of different make and model, tends to not work a lot of the time. RAM is put together in kits because they're made to work together. It's most likely those two different kinds of RAM not working together.

I will try to take out all ram sticks and just put in new ram sticks that i bought today. If its true that those two rams doesnt work together then i guess ill have to buy new kit.

try this put new ram in a1 and b1 then the old on in a2 and b2 those should be detectas dual channel ram also these ram are same cas and voltages you need to check that .found this all in board user manual .

Hey im new to this stuff,this will be my first build ever so can you please explain what is cas? and how can i check if they are same?

use cpu-z and check on spd for both the old and new stick the will tel you something like cas 14 or 15 or lower and also check voltage it report for them at bottom of page they should be similar .

they are not same cas for max speed but try to set them up the way i send you they might work well together so dont play in bios if your not shure what you do you could render system obsolete .

Well i just tested only kingston ram and it doesnt work.

How can i see if its rev or new one?

use old ram in system and try hwinfo or cpu-z .
